DYSTOPIA MERCANTILE
Dumplin Head wandered the rugged wasteland of Appalachia, her worn leather boots crunching through the brittle leaves and debris scattered across the radioactive landscape. A former scavenger, she had roamed the remnants of civilization for years, hoarding whatever she could find. Broken clocks, rusted metal scraps, fragments of pre-war technology, and even the odd Nuka-Cola bottle cap—her collection was as vast as it was eclectic. Her latest discovery, a cracked porcelain doll head, dangled from her backpack, an eerie reminder of the world’s former innocence. Dumplin Head saw value in everything, knowing that what seemed like useless junk to one might be a precious resource to another.
As her collection grew, so did the weight of her burden. Carrying her accumulated wares through the treacherous terrain became a task of endurance. One night, as she set up camp in an abandoned Red Rocket station, she had an idea: why not turn her junk into profit? The settlers, raiders, and wanderers of the wasteland were always searching for materials to build or decorate their newfound homes and bases. Dumplin Head could lighten her load and help others in the process. Thus, Dystopia Mercantile was born. The next morning, she staked a claim in a an old pawn shop located in the Toxic Valley and began organizing her scattered treasures, transforming the shack into a store brimming with the bizarre, the broken, and the downright strange.
Word quickly spread across the region about Dumplin Head’s store, a place where one could barter for anything from antique silverware to sturdy scrap metal. Her shelves were cluttered with every oddity one could imagine: mismatched chairs, tarnished jewelry, half-working radios, and boxes filled with screws and springs. She catered to those looking to spruce up their camps, and soon, even the most hardened raiders found themselves browsing her aisles, searching for just the right touch of post-apocalyptic charm. Dumplin Head’s store became a beacon in the wasteland, a place where the detritus of the old world found new life, and her eccentric collection proved that even in a broken world, there was beauty—and profit—in the discarded fragments of the past.
