BUILDER story – Deviant Cat

A loner by nature, Deviant Cat isn’t likely to be someone you go looking for on purpose. She’s the kind you stumble across out in the wilds—drawn in by the faint crackle of an old radio or the warped hum of a tune that somehow survived the bombs. It drifts through the trees or echoes off rusted steel, just enough to make you curious… and just unsettling enough to make you hesitate.

At first glance, she may look mean. On the second or third glance too. Actually, maybe you should stop glancing. There’s something in the way she stands—too still, too aware—that makes it feel like she’s already clocked you from a mile away. The smeared grin, the darkened eyes, the quiet confidence… it’s not for show. It’s a warning.

But that doesn’t matter, because you’re not out here looking for polite conversation or a friendly face. Out here, survival doesn’t care about charm. You want her around because she’s pissed—deep down, bone-deep—about what the world has become. Not in the loud, reckless way most wastelanders are, but in a controlled, simmering kind of fury. The kind that doesn’t burn out. The kind that builds.

She doesn’t talk much about it, but you can see it in how she moves, how she fights, how she lingers just long enough to make sure the job’s done before disappearing again. Deviant Cat isn’t trying to rebuild the world with speeches or plans. She’s doing it one encounter at a time, one wrong set right in her own way.

And if the world’s ever going to claw its way back from the edge, it’s going to need more people like that.
