I have seen Rad Rux put a kitchen into a small building, but this time he has put the whole building in the air. Traveling Chef hangs over Burning Springs beside the Rust Kingdom, a battered red food boat with a broad counter and machinery underneath. I looked for the usual front steps and found none.

The cooking space is packed with pots, equipment and supplies. Lanterns hang across the open roof, while tires, hoses and mismatched metal cover the outside. The sign says Food For Thought, which seemed fair enough after I spent a minute figuring out how all that weight was meant to stay up.

Rux has borrowed the idea of a flying street kitchen and built it with the sort of scrap this country supplies in abundance. I would still want to inspect every fastening before taking a ride. From solid ground, though, I can appreciate a fellow who refuses to let a difficult location decide the shape of his work.
