LOST WALKER

Something tall wandered out into the Ash Heap and settled among the smoke. Rad Rux calls it Lost Walker, a glass domed machine carried on long metal legs with green tanks, narrow joints, and a control chamber high above the ground.

The machine is strange from every angle. Pipes feed the body, lamps glow through the haze, and its planted feet look ready to lift again. Even standing still, it carries the uneasy posture of a traveler that has not decided where it belongs.

I cannot say who sent it or what orders it once followed. I can say Rad Rux built the illusion with care, and the result makes a person listen twice when metal creaks beyond the next ridge.
