FUSION FLYER

Rad Rux has built plenty of places to stay, but the Fusion Flyer looks ready to leave one behind. I found this compact hovering machine in Burning Springs, with exposed pipes, yellow cylinders and a blue engine fitted around its salvaged metal body. There is a saddle for the rider, rather than a comfortable cabin to shut the dust out.

The curved casing and big round end give it a shape all its own. You can follow the fittings and cables from one section to the next, which makes the machinery as much a part of its appearance as the bodywork. Rux left the working pieces on show instead of smoothing everything into a shiny shell.

I would want a good look at the controls before climbing aboard, but I admire the thinking behind it. Around here, a useful old part does not need to return to its original job. Rux has put that notion together into a vehicle that looks entirely at home over the broken ground of Burning Springs.
