I found The Candlecrossing under a bridge in the Forest, where Bubble has worked wooden stairs and platforms into the older structure. Candles light the way between the timbers, and Mothman figures appear throughout the camp. It is a place that tells you something about its builder before he says a word.

Bubble believes the creature once saved his life, and he has carried that memory into the things he builds. Here, little wooden rooms, railings and branching walkways fill the space around the bridge. The old structure still shows through, which makes the newer work feel attached to the place rather than simply set beside it.

My faith rests elsewhere, so I do not share the devotion behind these shrines. Still, I can see the care he has put into the fitting of every step and post. In the candlelight, the rough wood and old bridge have more detail than a quick glance from the road would ever reveal.
