Patchwork No. 4 started with a tight limit and a set of building parts other folks tend to pass over. Bubble gave himself four floors to work with in the Savage Divide, using old vault panels, walls and foundations as the basis of his home. The blue and ivory pieces still show their age, which suits the salvage gathered around them.

Narrow stairs connect the rooms and balconies, and a furnished terrace sits up on the roof. There is a compact bathroom, blue seating and plenty of little decorative pieces fitted into the limited space. Outside, an old car and machinery make the yard look as carefully collected as the house.

A fellow can learn a good deal when he sets himself a boundary before starting a job. Bubble has answered this one with patience and a willingness to use awkward materials. I reckon the mismatched panels are part of the home’s character now, rather than something that needs covering up.
