SCRAPWICK MANOR

I have seen folks throw away good timber over one bent nail. Player Georges seems determined to prove them wrong. Scrapwick Manor wears its rescued beams, patched plaster, and rusty roofing plain as day. Whether Georges raised the whole place himself or found a tired old shell worth saving, he has kept that part to himself. I can tell you he knows the difference between something worn out and something worth another chance.

Inside, a red sofa sits among shelves of oddments, the little kitchen still has some cheer in it, and every crowded corner looks useful to somebody. Before the war, the best houses I worked on were the ones where a neighbor could knock without rehearsing an apology. This place puts me in mind of them. A sound roof, a place to sit, and a willingness to share what you have are blessings enough to start with. The Lord has built good things out of humbler beginnings.

PLAYER GEORGES

Player Georges is one of those travelers whose kindness gets there before his history does. Folks know him for lending supplies and putting up camps in places that make a working man stop and study the supports. I have heard talk of him coming from far north, but his origin is a mystery.

What matters to me is what a fellow does with the tools and time he has been given. Georges brings imagination to his building and a helping hand to the people he meets. Whatever road brought him here, Appalachia is better for the good he leaves along it.
