Mettle Overpass

Most folks would put a good stretch of road between their front door and the Metal Dome. Player Georges went the other way. He drove his supports into the rocks and erected a cold, steel home above the drop, piecing it together from battered panels, iron walkways, and machinery that looks one loose bolt away from getting up on its own. I have built in some disagreeable places, but this is an uncommon choice of neighbors.

The weaponry stabbed all over the place tells me those neighbors have come calling, and the visits have gone badly. Blades left biting into metal are a poor substitute for a handshake. Georges has kept his roof, his stairs, and his place at the table all the same. I would sooner see a man mend a fence than have to defend one, but there is no mistaking what these walls have been asked to withstand.

They call what happens down at the Dome Test Your Metal. Looking up at this patched steel overpass, I reckon Georges has had his mettle tested well enough at home. Mettle Overpass is a fitting name for it. I pray the Lord grants him a quieter night and better company, though I suspect he still checks the bolts and the door before turning in.

PLAYER GEORGES

Player Georges is one of those travelers whose kindness gets there before his history does. Folks know him for lending supplies and putting up camps in places that make a working man stop and study the supports. I have heard talk of him coming from far north, but his origin remains a mystery.

What matters to me is what a fellow does with the tools and time he has been given. Georges brings imagination to his building and a helping hand to the people he meets. Whatever road brought him here, Appalachia is better for the good he leaves along it.
