I knew Big Fred’s place before Megs put her own hand to it. She kept the old barbecue shack’s rough boards and open counter, then brightened the stone yard with plants and colored lights. Naming it for Grahm seems fitting, considering how much that fellow cares about a proper cookout.

Inside, there’s a brick kitchen, a well used counter and enough little touches to show who has been at work. The green Grahm figures lined up by the grill gave me a chuckle. Megs can find room for a cheerful display without losing the plain usefulness of a building.

I reckon her father’s building sense and her mother’s eye for a picture both came along on this job. The place still looks at home in the Savage Divide, rusted car and all. It’s an old roadside stop given a little care by somebody who hasn’t forgotten what a welcoming place can look like.
