I could see the colored trees at Holly Jolly Trees before I reached the steps. Megs has turned a patch of the Cranberry Bog into a tidy Christmas lot, with little red stalls and a glass pavilion in the middle. It reminded me of the roadside lots we used to pass when December came around.

There are reindeer by the entrance, ornaments at the counter and more trees waiting behind the fence. Inside the pavilion, a red chair sits among the lights and decorations. The striped awnings and small displays show the same careful eye I’ve come to expect from Megs.

I reckon keeping a family tradition takes a little determination these days. For me, Christmas still begins with the birth of our Lord, and I’m glad to see some kindness carried into the season. Megs has held onto a cheerful memory and built it with her own hands, right where the world could use a little brightness.
